Mountain Climbing : Mount Alpamayo

INTRODUCTION:

Alpamayo is a steep, perfectly shaped pyramid of ice, one of many fine peaks that comprise the Santa Cruz massif, the northernmost massif of the Cordillera Blanca. Alpamayo is smaller than many of its neighboring peaks, but overcomes this shortcoming by its breathtaking form. It actually has two sharp summits, North and South, separated by a narrow corniced ridge. 


ITINERARY:

Day 01 : Transfer Huaraz - Caraz - Cashapampa - Llamacorral.

Transfer to Caraz - Cashapampa ( 2980) masl. After 2 hours and half aprox. (trail head) with a private bus, here we will meet our donkey drivers who will help us to transport our mountain equipment and supplies, they will go with us for two days until the base camp, we'll start our trekking through the Santa Cruz ravine, then we'll get the first Camp Llamacorral (3850 masl.) 4-5 hours aprox. Overnight camping

Day 02 : Llamacorral - Base Camp - Arhuaycocha .

We start trekking, after our breakfast, passing the blue-green colour lakes called Ichik Cocha and Jatun Cocha, in 4 hours we have got the Base Camp Arhuaycocha, then we'll start to prepare our climbing equipment for the next day. overnight camping at 4200 aprox

Day 03 : Base Camp - Moreine - Camp (1).

We'll start going-up to the moreine and we'll climb snow until the Camp 1 (5300 masl), overnight in the glacier

Day 04 : Rest Day o (variations of time).

We'll rest to explore or bad conditions of the weather, overnight in the glacier

Day 05 : Camp (1) - Summit - Camp (1).

Equipments checking, today the hardest day to climb Alpamayo, with 350 meter the route, and 65º -70º inclination, ice climbing short expedition, ad finally we have reached Alpamayo's summit, and come down to Camp 1. overnight in the glacier

Day 06 : Camp (1) - Base Camp Arhuaycocha.

Descend to Base camp to Arhuaycocha (4200 masl). Overnight camping

Day 07 : Base Camp - Cashapampa - Caraz - Huaraz .

Trek downhill to Cashapampa and transfer to Huaraz - Hotel

NOT INCLUDED :

Sleeping bags, hiking boots and other personal gear.

Hotel in Huaraz.

INCLUSIONS:

Transportation by vehicle to start and from the end of trek to your city of departure.
